Dining At Hotel De Paris In Monaco

I just got back from Monaco, we had an amazing dinner at Le Grill in Hotel De Paris, one of the most prestigious hotels in Monte Carlo, as well as in the world. Before getting into the food, I want to quickly talk about Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo is an area of the world where the rich and famous come to party, with high end stores, restaurants, hotels and casinos. Driving to the restaurant, you see a boat yard full of the biggest and most expensive yachts I’ve ever seen. You also see some ridiculous cars, from Bentley’s to Lamborghini’s, and everything high-end in-between. I’m going to leave the cars to a separate post, as I’ve been taking some pictures. Here’s a picture of some of the yachts parked:

That picture was taken from Le Grill, the restaurant we were eating at. One of the really cool things I experienced was the fireworks during the meal. You see, there is an international competition going on in Monte Carlo right now, where every week a different country will put on a show…and it just happened to be shot off from right where the boats were. That means the view from the balcony of the restaurant was probably the best in all of the city. The fireworks were literally blowing up parallel to us in height, and right in front of us…it was the best view and best fireworks show I’ve ever seen. Two thumbs up to Austria, which was the country putting on the show this week. I took some video, which I’ll upload when I get back to the states. For now, lets move onto the food.

Le Grill Menu

Besides your normal palette cleansers, I started off with the Ricotta Ravioli. It’s topped with truffles, which gives it a unique, but very tasty flavor:

For my entree I had the filet (as usual!). The sides were very good (a variety of green vegetables and different types of potato), but I wasn’t actually all that impressed with the steak itself. Especially compared to recent ones I’ve had like at BLT Steak and Ray’s The Steak.

For dessert, Le Grill specialized in a variety of soufflet’s, so it was something I had to get…I went with rasberry:

It was my first time trying soufflet, but it was quite tasty, and done right.

I think overall, the experience I had at Le Grill was amazing. The food wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but the location, view, and service was impeccable. If you’re ever looking to go to Monte Carlo high-roller style, Le Grill needs to be one of your stops.

Parasailing & Jet Skiing In The French Riviera

Today was our first full day here in France, and we had a bunch of activities to do. We started by heading down to an area about 15 minutes from here to do some jet skiing and parasailing. Here’s the beach which we launched from:

We rode the jet skis for about an hour, we rode them all the way down to the beach where our families house is at. You can see that area from the house here:

Next up was parasailing, here’s my cousin and brother waiting for the boat to come pick us up:

The boat finally arrives, and we’re ready to go:

Here’s the three of us starting to head up:

Monster Jam Baltimore

Last Saturday a couple friends and I attended the monster truck show (Monster Jam) at the 1st Mariner Arena in Baltimore. I had never been to a monster truck show before, and the fact that I’m being into cars, I thought it’d be a fun thing to do. My first impression when I walked in…the place was tiny…how are they going to drive these huge trucks around in here? 1st Mariner Arena is way too small for this sort of even in my opinion, the trucks had to slam on their brakes after jumping over a few cars. This was nothing like I had seen on TV.

The trucks are all pretty awesome, running with open headers, they are super loud. They also tried to have a little WWE style fun by having 3 races on quads, Baltimore vs. New York. Of course being in Baltimore, they was a crowd favorite, and when NY lost there was a big fight…it was pretty comical. Other than that, I thought it was pretty fun…but probably not something I’d do again unless it was at a huge place where they are jumping through semi’s and flipping the trucks. I’m glad I was able to check this off the things to do in my life list though.

Here’s a few pics of the event, sorry for the bad quality:

Welcome To 2008

All around the net I’ve seen my favorite bloggers post their happy new years posts, and I thought I’d do the same.

Let The Festivities Begin

For New Years Eve, we headed over to Glen Burnie, MD for a party that our friend Butch was having. When I was back in college in Baltimore I used to live in a duplex type townhome with two best friends. The house attached to ours was what became 3 good friends of ours (One of them, Eric, is now my business partner for Tri Megatech). Almost every Saturday we used to throw dual house keg parties. Butch’s party had a lot of those people that we hadn’t seen in a long time, so it was like a big reunion. The party had about 40-50 people, 3 kegs, food, and a midnight champagne toast.

Here’s a few of the girls from the party:

My buddy Mike and I ran the beer pong table towards the end of the night, never losing a game. Check out the below video, and you’ll see my excitement about that at the end:

What I Want To Change In 2008

There are quite a few things I want to do in 2008:

  • I will eat much better and cook for myself more.
  • I will workout more and get in better shape, especially by this Summer
  • I will clean up my current businesses. By this I mean I will sell/get rid of what I feel I don’t want to continue or spend more time on so I can put more concentration on what I want to grow.
  • I will launch a new site that I’ve been thinking about for about 6 months now
  • I will help grow Tri Megatech by at least 200% of gross revenue from 2007
  • I will generate at least $5,000 in revenue from Carbon Fiber Gear
  • I will launch the new design for this blog

What are your goals, and what will you be doing to accomplish them?

Ravens Redskins Game This Past Weekend

I got a call Saturday afternoon that a friend had an extra ticket to the Baltimore Ravens/Washington Redskins pre-season game this past week. I went to college close to Baltimore, so I’m a Ravens fan, but I also live near DC now, so I’m a Redskins fan by the locality rule….This game I had to go to! The game wasn’t until 8:00pm, but after driving around for 45 minutes try to find somebody scalping parking passes, we got there at 5:00 to do some tailgating. Our group of people had a nice mix of Ravens and Redskins fans.

I stopped at Modell’s before the game to pick up a Jersey. I went in planning to get a Ravens jersey, but they were all sold out, so I picked up a Skins one instead. By default, I was a Redskins fan for the night lol.

Here’s the whole crew ready for some Football!

You can see in the background of the above picture that the sky isn’t looking that great, take a look at this. Here’s a picture of the sky on the right side of stadium:

Now this picture was taken at the same time, but on the left side of the stadium:

Darker sky

Least to say, a pretty wild thunderstorm starting brewing right before kickoff was about to happen. They wouldn’t let anybody in the stands until it passed by, so it was about 30-45 minutes after the scheduled kickoff time that the game actually started. Speaking of kickoff, here it was:

Kickoff

At halftime the score was 7-6 Ravens, but I started to feel really sick. I decided to go back to the car and lay down. After about 10 minutes of that it started thunderstorming big time again, and a few minutes later everybody was back at the car. It turned out that the game got canceled, the final score was 13-7 Redskins.
